• 1728: Abraham Strickler deeded 160 acres of land from John Dougherty in West Hempfield Township, Lancaster Count, Pennsylvania, located on the Susquehanna River near what is today Columbia.
• 1778: Henry Huffman, Sr., entered the service of Rockingham County, Virginia, on or about this day as a substitute in the room of Pvt. John Armentrout who had been drafted to perform a tour of three months against the Indians on the frontier settlement in a company of militia commanded by Capt. Robert Cravens.

The 7th Regiment moved across the field and rushed at the enemy, causing the enemy to retreat to Cemetery Hill. The Regiment came under enemy artillery fire from Cemetery Hill and spent the night behind the stone fence.
